“The one thing I love about storms, about lightning, is that it’s never the same. That phrase you use – lightning never strikes in the same spot twice? It’s true! It forks and bends and cracks like a whip. But never in the same place no matter how hard you try to control it. There’s a lot of beauty in it, really. The way it can light up the night sky, the way it glistens purple and white, and especially the thunderous roar after it strikes. Helps to muffle the screaming. Can I show you?” -Nirah Lavellan

oops, that last fanart I reblogged gave me lots of feelings about Surana and Anders dropping whatever they’re doing and just standing outside every single time it starts raining at Vigil’s Keep, because they spent too much of their lives being denied that simple freedom.

Justice also comes along because most mortals seem to take their world for granted – they just don’t see its wonder and beauty and terror, at least not the same way he does – but these are the times when he feels like someone understands. and they don’t even need words, and it almost makes him feel like he’s home.
