CONFESSION:

Calpernia is a vastly more interesting Rival for the Inquisitor, I wanted her to become a companion, like the ‘Secret Companion’ from Origins! It makes me sad that a lot of people never try the Templar route and see her. The sequence where you are properly introduced to Cole at Adamant is chilling, too.

Alistair is canonically half-elven

There’s a post going around about Fiona possibly not being Alistair’s mother. I didn’t want to reblog the post itself (and possibly find myself in an unpleasant confrontation with someone) but there are a few things to be aware of:

1) One of the people who contributed to that post is notorious for aggressively defending white/whitewashed Alistair and attacking fans who defend biracial/non-white Alistair.

2) Whether or not Fiona is Alistair’s mother, Mark Darrah (executive producer for the Dragon Age series) confirmed in a Q&A in 2014 that Alistair is canonically half-elven. Meaning, no, he’s not the son of a human servant girl or a human noblewoman.

Here’s a screenshot of the confirmation:

There are no half elves in DA. The Human side always dominates the appearance. Hence Alistair
– Mark

I’ve read elsewhere that creative director Mike Laidlaw has confirmed outright that Fiona is Alistair’s mother (mentioned in this wrap-up of the same Q&A by well-known Bioware fan journalist @ladyinsanity) but I can’t seem to find the actual thread in which he confirmed it.

As for the inconsistencies in the lore noted in the post, I’d say they’re exactly that – inconsistencies. It would hardly be the first time Bioware contradicted its own lore, but there’s no denying the word of Mark Darrah about Alistair.

In either case, while intriguing to consider the possibility of a third Theirin heir, this speculation post is based in misinformation, and contains the opinions of someone who’s known to deny Alistair as biracial and Fiona as a PoC, yet this post has over 300 notes.

Obviously most people reblogging probably don’t know any of this, but that’s why I made this post to counter the misinformation, even if only in small part. I encourage others to reblog this so that the true canonical information about Alistair’s heritage can be better known.

Since she’s apparently trying to hide the receipts now by deleting old posts, more examples of Karee aka oblivion-and-wonderland aka replicajester and her racist nature can still be found here: http://biowarily.tumblr.com/tagged/replicajester

Agreed, the whole thing is another transparent attempt to defend White Alistair. They couldn’t disprove Fiona’s WoC status, so now they want to suggest she’s not even his mother.

Do not give them your attention. Just block and blacklist them.

FUN FACT: it seems like more and more people are coming out as asexual because we finally feel safe enough to do so, it is not a fad, it is not a trend, and if you think it is one of those things please hop on the shut-the-fuck-up train to don’t-fucking-speak-to-me-ville.

Holy shit, it’s been put into words.

💜🌈💜

Also, people are coming out as asexual because we finally know that this is a thing that exists. We are reading things on the internet and thinking, “Oh, this sounds like me,” and, “There are other people who feel like this?” and, “Maybe I’m not broken after all.”

I wasn’t aware asexuality even existed until a couple of years ago. I mentioned asexuality to a coworker maybe a month ago and her reaction was astonished joy and, “That sounds like me!” I spoke to a woman in her fifties who said, “I always just assumed I was broken.”

People are coming out as asexual because they’ve learned that asexuality exists.

I did know about asexuals, but the only examples I ever got were of characters like Sherlock Holmes who were cold and robotic and ambiguous.

I assumed that because I have no problem with having sex, that I wasn’t Asexual. It was only once I saw actual people who identified as Asexuals (who were human and showed a variety to asexuality that I’d never seen) that I could begin to see myself in that description.

So now I can say loud and proudly that I am Asexual! I am Aromantic! And I am a human being and not a damn fad!
