Background: The youngest of three and very sickly, she was raised to go into the chantry, but when her sister showed magic and healed her, she became the “spare”. Her mother was domineering and violent, which only got worse once her sister went to the circle. Married off to a friend of her brother she becomes pregnant in 9:38. On a visit to Markham with her husband, they are attacked by bandits, who kill her husband and stab her in the stomach, killing her unborn daughter. Her brother-in-law refuses to keep her in the family, so she goes to Denerim and joins the Chantry as a Lay Sister.
Personality: Extremely anxious and self concious. Does not cope well with being inquisitor and having to make decisions for other people. Has great faith in the maker and the chantry, finding solace in devotion and tradition. Can be ruthless and has a mind for politics and The Game, though often second guesses her self. Is a talented singer and accomplished horse woman, but has little faith in her own abilities.
Background: Came into her magic when her mother was killed by humans at age 7. From then was over protected by the clan and her father and raised to be First. She never really wanted to be Keeper, but feels she owes her clan.
Personality: Very passionate and excitable, loves finding new information and questioning ‘known’ facts. Isn’t the best at dealing with people as she makes too many jokes (especially puns), but tries to be friendly and trusting. Is happiest with no responsibilities and a book, but believes in duty and doing what is right for the most people.
Background: Until age 13, she was the perfect daughter to a very controlling mother. When her younger sister fell from a tree and broke her neck, Jen healed her with magic. She was instantly locked away until the templars arrived and was forbidden contact with her family. Though Ostwick circle was a moderate circle, Templars were strict and scared her so she tried to be the model student. Away from Ostwick during the uprising, was very lost and ended up at the conclave looking for her friends in the rebel mages.
Personality: Quite timid, but with a cutting wit when she feels comfortable. Has very strong morals, but often has trouble expressing herself, especially to authority figures and physically strong women. Cares greatly about people and does her best to heal or help when she can, it hurts her a lot to let people die, especially those who die in her name or for the Inquisition.

Background: Father died before he was born, mother became severely depressed so he was raised by ‘the aunts’. When he was five, his mother got herself back together and remarried, producing his half sister, Elenansal. Unsure of his mother, he dedicated his life to his baby sister and living up to his name (Promise of Laughter). Never showed any aptitude for any skill in the clan except fighting, but not sneaky enough to be a hunter. Never had any relationships in the clan as one of the few gay/bi men in the clan and the only one of his age group who wasn’t already married. Refused to look father afield as he wouldn’t leave his sister.
Personality: Joker with a heart of gold, covers up his insecurities with jokes and bravado. Very self depreciating, especially regarding his skills and his looks. Very protective over mages, especially his sister and later Dorian. Doesn’t over think things and can be reckless, especially where his own safety is concerned.
