New headcanon, if your brought Anders in Legacy the ONLY thing that saved his life was already sharing a head space with Justice. If he hadn’t he would have been the closest warden to Cory when he ‘died’ and would have been the one possessed by the Masgister.

apostaterevolutionary:

Actually, I’d go so far to say that’s downright canon

There’s another part to it too: Cory tries to take control of Anders throughout the quest, and Justice is what breaks the compulsion

Now, we don’t know exactly what Cory was trying to get him to do, but given that the dwarves he was controlling were trying to get Hawke’s blood so they could free him, I get the distinct feeling he was trying to get Anders to do the same (I actually wrote a fic about this once)

That would explain why he was fighting it so hard, beyond just his own fear of being controlled, and beyond Justice’s of the same. Cory was asking him to hurt Hawke, the person he loves or at least cares about a lot as a friend. Justice managed to break control, but was super freaked out by the whole experience to the point that he can’t do anything but lash out due to Anders’ fear so that’s why he attacks. But regardless, Anders is only able to break the mind control because of Justice

So, if he hadn’t had Justice there? He probably would’ve turned on Hawke at some point, so he could bring Corypheus ‘the blood of the Hawke’ and free him. Hawke then likely would’ve had to kill him, since that’s how these things tend to go in games

But even if that hadn’t happened because he did a good job of hiding it or whatever, you’re absolutely right; Anders would’ve been under Corypheus’ control when Cory ‘died’. And thus Anders would’ve been the perfect vessel for possession, considering he’s definitely hardier than Larius, and may be more desirable than Janeka as well considering he’d be closer in proximity. Which is something I never actually thought about before

So either way, whether it was by Hawke’s hand out of necessity, or because Corypheus transferred to him, if Anders was successfully controlled by the Magister, he would not have survived the DLC

Literally the only reason he did was because Justice was there, and managed to break the compulsion either by using his will alone (since spirit will > mortal will every time), or basically by doing the mental equivalent of yelling ‘occupied!’, or maybe it was a mix of both, we don’t really know (it’s probably the former though, I just wanted to put something at least mildly lighthearted in here lmao)

Anders wasn’t strong enough to fight it because no Warden is, but Justice was, and fuck, you’re right, that’s the only reason he actually survives the DLC

This is really awesome, but what about if you bring Carver or Bethany as a Warden? A warden that Cory might be able to control with the blood of the Hawke?
Unless the Hawke blood makes them impervious to his control? I suppose if Malcolm used his own blood to bind Cory, then that binding might extend to protection for any blighted children. But I would have loved for the warden sibling to have more of a negative effect from their joining and the exposure to Cory. They barely mention anything wardeny except for the calling and not being able to talk about it. I’m also pretty sure that a warden sibling doesn’t really talk to Anders about any of the warden things??? Which does seem a bit weird, even if Carver doesn’t like him, Bethany always seems to get along with him pretty well?
I may have missed dialogue, I’ve played Legacy only a few times and I tend to limit myself to one Mage.
